POSITION PURPOSE:

This position is responsible for developing and leading the local sales and customer service teams. The Sales Manager will define business development strategies and provide direction and support to ensure the best possible customer satisfaction to the organization's customers. This role will create measurable standards of excellence, develop systems and processes that are continuously enhanced, and manage a team of people to exceed internal and external customer expectations.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Set strategic direction within sales and customer service in alignment with corporate objectives.
  • Provide day to day direction and leadership of the sales and customer service teams.
  • Evaluate marketplace strategies and sales infiltration opportunities to maximize revenue attainment.
  • Attain/exceed individual and team sales quota.
  • Evaluate, plan, promote, and execute long-term solutions that drive productive and efficient practices resulting in high customer satisfaction.
  • Define and implement staffing and organizational design strategies that maximize customer satisfaction, team productivity, and cost effectiveness.
  • Develop and maintain metrics and workflow practices that measure and drive effectiveness.
  • Build working relationships with all major customers and maintain sales involvement with accounts.
  • Serve as subject matter expert for business product lines and relevant applications.
  • Recommend changes based on an analysis of metrics and drive effective change management efforts.
  • Prepare performance reporting to senior management advising of statistics, progress on goals, issues/concerns and any other pertinent information.
  • Develop and maintain policies, procedures and specifications to provide a quality customer centric service program that ensures that that goals and objectives are achieved.
  • Expected to handle complex or difficult situations as appropriate.
  • Design and implement strategies that support the ongoing learning and development of staff members.
  • Partner closely with internal functions to assure quality, service, price and delivery.
  • Adhere to and promote all company standards and policies.
  • Keep informed regarding industry and product information.
  • Manage special projects and perform other duties as assigned by management.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Able to create a clear vision and think strategically.
  • Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to interface with all levels of management.
  • Proven ability to manage people and teams to achieve successful results.

  • Strong organization skills, good follow-through and attention to detail.
  • Tenacity in overcoming obstacles while maintaining productive and positive working relationships.
  • Strong process and project management skills.
  • Ability to execute in a rapidly changing, fast paced, dynamic environment which requires strong teamwork.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and the capacity to learn new systems.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Five plus years of relevant experience.
  • Previous leadership experience.
  • Experience within the manufacturing industry, preferably with a plastics focus.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Marketing, Advertising, or a related discipline.
